Okanagan Employment Trends

 

The unemployment rate in Kelowna was 7% as of May 2025, up 0.1% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 2.9% below the peak from June 2020 but remains above the long-run average.

There were 1,900 more full-time jobs in May 2025 compared to a month earlier. Combined with a gain of 1,700 part-time positions, this led to an increase of 3,600 total jobs in May.

Full-time employment was still down 9,600 jobs from the peak in September 2023 but stood 5,500 jobs above the trough in September 2024.
