Okanagan Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in the Okanagan region was 5% as of December 2024, up 0.3% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 7% below the peak from June 2009 and is below the long-run average.

There were 3,100 more full-time jobs in December 2024 compared to a month earlier. A loss of 300 part-time positions led to an increase of 2,800 total jobs in December.

Full-time employment was still down 6,500 jobs from the peak in May 2023 but stood 9,800 jobs above the trough in September 2024.
