Kitchener-Cambridge-Waterloo Employment Trends
The unemployment rate in Kitchener-Cambridge-Waterloo was 7.7% as of November 2024, down 0.1% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 5.4% below the peak from July 2020 but remains above the long-run average.
There were 2,600 more full-time jobs in November 2024 compared to a month earlier. A gain of 2,900 part-time positions led to an increase of 5,500 total jobs in November.
Full-time employment has recovered since reaching a bottom in September 2024 and now stands at a record high.
