British Columbia Employment Trends

 

The unemployment rate in British Columbia was 6.5% as of December 2025, unchanged from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 6.4% below the peak in June 2020 but remains above the long-run average.

There were 1,400 more full-time jobs in December 2025 compared to a month earlier. Combined with a loss of 1,400 part-time positions, this led to an unchanged number of total jobs in December.

Full-time employment was down 39,700 jobs from the peak in June 2025 but stood 3,000 jobs above the trough in October 2025.
