British Columbia Employment Trends
The unemployment rate in British Columbia was 5.8% as of October 2024, unchanged from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 7% below the peak in June 2020 and is below the long-run average.
There were 7,300 fewer full-time jobs in October 2024 compared to a month earlier. A gain of 2,600 part-time positions led to a decrease of 4,700 total jobs in October.
Full-time employment was still down 36,600 jobs from the peak in May 2024.
