Winnipeg Employment Trends

 

The unemployment rate in Winnipeg was 6.3% as of January 2026, up 0.1% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 5.9% below the peak from June 2020 but remains above the long-run average.

There were 200 more full-time jobs in January 2026 compared to a month earlier. Combined with a loss of 100 part-time positions, this led to an increase of 100 total jobs in January.

Full-time employment was down 3,900 jobs from the peak in May 2025 but stood 11,000 jobs above the trough in August 2025.
