Winnipeg Employment Trends

 

The unemployment rate in Winnipeg was 5.9% as of April 2026, down 0.2% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 6.3% below the peak from June 2020 and is below the long-run average.

There were 1,100 fewer full-time jobs in April 2026 compared to a month earlier. Combined with a loss of 600 part-time positions, this led to a decrease of 1,700 total jobs in April.

Full-time employment was down 6,200 jobs from the peak in May 2025 but stood 8,100 jobs above the trough in August 2025.
