Changes in population from migration and immigration
Positive net international immigration overshadowed losses from interprovincial migration, resulting in a net increase of 2,425 people to Manitoba’s population in the second quarter of 2026. This was a decrease of 38.9% from the net gain in the second quarter of 2025.
Changes in population from movement within Canada
Some 5,090 people moved to Manitoba from other provinces in the second quarter of 2026, up 1.2% from a year earlier. A total of 6,937 people left the province for elsewhere in Canada in the second quarter, an increase of 22.8% from the same period in 2025. The result was a net loss of 1,847 people from Manitoba’s population in the second quarter. This was an increase of 198.9% from the net loss in the second quarter of 2025.
Changes in population from immigration
Net international immigration added 4,272 people to Manitoba’s population in the second quarter of 2026. This was a decrease of 6.8% from the net gain from the same period in 2025.
