Changes in population from migration and immigration

Positive international immigration added to gains from interprovincial migration, resulting in a net increase of 2,855 people to Manitoba’s population in the first quarter of 2025. This was a decrease of 72.9% from the first quarter of 2024.

Changes in population from movement within Canada

Some 4,352 people moved to Manitoba from other provinces in the first quarter of 2025, down 2.7% from a year earlier. A total of 4,246 people left the province for elsewhere in Canada in the first quarter, a decrease of 12.9% from the same period in 2024. The result was a net gain of 106 people to Manitoba’s population in the first quarter. This was a reversal from the net loss of 400 people from the first quarter of 2024.

Changes in population from immigration

International immigration added 2,749 people to Manitoba’s population in the first quarter of 2025. This was a decrease of 74.9% from the same period in 2024.
