Changes in population from migration and immigration
Positive international immigration overshadowed losses from interprovincial migration, resulting in a net increase of 7,528 people to Manitoba’s population in the second quarter of 2024. This was a decrease of 24.5% from the second quarter of 2023.
Changes in population from movement within Canada
Some 5,469 people moved to Manitoba from other provinces in the second quarter of 2024, up 14.1% from a year earlier. A total of 6,087 people left the province for elsewhere in Canada in the second quarter, a decrease of 18.6% from the same period in 2023. The result was a net loss of 618 people from Manitoba’s population in the second quarter. This was a decrease of 77% from the second quarter of 2023.
Changes in population from immigration
International immigration added 8,146 people to Manitoba’s population in the second quarter of 2024. This was a decrease of 35.6% from the same period in 2023.
