British Columbia Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in British Columbia was 5.3% as of June 2024, down 0.1% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 7.5% below the peak from June 2020 and is below the long-run average.

There were 2,600 fewer full-time jobs in June 2024 compared to a month earlier. A gain of 4,500 part-time positions led to an increase of 1,900 total jobs in June.

Full-time employment was still down 2,600 jobs from the peak in May 2024.
