British Columbia Employment Trends
The unemployment rate in British Columbia was 4.8% at the end of February 2020, unchanged from the previous month. This was the lowest provincial unemployment rate in the country.
The number of full-time jobs was down from the end of the previous month.
There were 1,000 fewer full-time jobs in February 2020 compared to a month earlier. A loss of 2,200 part-time positions led to a decrease of 3,200 total jobs in February.
Full-time job gains occurred mainly in utilities, trade services, the financial sector, information & culture services, and accommodation & food services.
These gains were offset by losses occurring mainly in prof., sci. & tech. services, business & building services, education, and public administration.
