Thunder Bay Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in Thunder Bay was 5.3% as of November 2024, up 0.3% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 6.4% below the peak from June 2020 and is below the long-run average.

There were 100 more full-time jobs in November 2024 compared to a month earlier. A gain of 200 part-time positions led to an increase of 300 total jobs in November.

Full-time employment was still down 1,400 jobs from the peak in February 2022 but stood 3,000 jobs above the trough in March 2024.
