Greater Sudbury Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in Greater Sudbury was 5.6% as of March 2024, down 0.3% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 5.1% below the peak from December 2009 and is below the long-run average.

There were 2,200 fewer full-time jobs in March 2024 compared to a month earlier. A gain of 500 part-time positions led to a decrease of 1,700 total jobs in March.

Full-time employment was still down 6,500 jobs from the peak in May 2019 but stood 4,100 jobs above the trough in June 2020.
