Ontario Employment Trends
The unemployment rate in Ontario was 7.9% as of July 2025, up 0.1% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 5.1% below the peak from June 2020 but remains above the long-run average.
There were 11,700 more full-time jobs in July 2025 compared to a month earlier. Combined with a loss of 4,500 part-time positions, this led to an increase of 7,200 total jobs in July.
Full-time employment was still down 52,200 jobs from the peak in February 2025 but stood 11,700 jobs above the trough in June 2025.
