Okanagan Employment Trends
The unemployment rate in Kelowna was 5.3% as of February 2025, up 0.4% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 4.6% below the peak from June 2020 and is below the long-run average.
There were 3,900 fewer full-time jobs in February 2025 compared to a month earlier. A loss of 1,200 part-time positions led to a decrease of 5,100 total jobs in February.
Full-time employment was still down 8,800 jobs from the peak in May 2023 but stood 6,400 jobs above the trough in September 2024.
