British Columbia Consumer Confidence
According to the Conference Board of Canada, consumer confidence in British Columbia moved lower in October 2024.
Concerning job prospects over the next six months, the number of respondents expressing optimism over future employment conditions fell to the lowest levels in survey history while those expecting fewer job opportunities continued to move higher in October. Most respondents still expect conditions to remain stable.
Regarding expectations for their household budget over the next six months, the number of respondents who expected an improvement in their finances fell while those unsure and those who expected conditions to remain the same moved up.
Sentiment about making major purchases, like a home or a car, remains at subdued levels but has improved greatly in recent months. The number of respondents who thought it was a bad time to make a major purchase ticked up in October while the number of those expressing uncertainty moved sideways. Those who expressed optimism ticked lower.
