Ontario Employment Trends
The unemployment rate in Ontario was 7.5% as of February 2025, down 0.1% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 5.5% below the peak from June 2020 but remains above the long-run average.
There were 7,400 more full-time jobs in February 2025 compared to a month earlier. A gain of 21,700 part-time positions led to an increase of 29,100 total jobs in February.
Full-time employment has recovered since reaching a bottom in December 2024 and now stands at a record high.
