British Columbia Employment Trends
The unemployment rate in British Columbia was 6.3% as of March 2026, up 0.1% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 6.6% below the peak from June 2020 but remains above the long-run average.
There were 6,600 fewer full-time jobs in March 2026 compared to a month earlier. Combined with a loss of 5,300 part-time positions, this led to a decrease of 11,900 total jobs in March.
Full-time employment was down 22,400 jobs from the peak in June 2025 but stood 12,100 jobs above the trough in October 2025.
