British Columbia Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in British Columbia was 5.8% as of November 2024, unchanged from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 7% below the peak in June 2020 and is below the long-run average.

There were 1,700 more full-time jobs in November 2024 compared to a month earlier. A loss of 4,400 part-time positions led to a decrease of 2,700 total jobs in November.

Full-time employment was still down 34,900 jobs from the peak in May 2024 but stood 1,700 jobs above the trough in October 2024.
