Hamilton Employment Trends

 

The unemployment rate in Hamilton was 6.5% as of March 2026, down 0.1% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 6.5% below the peak from June 2020 but remains above the long-run average.

There were 1,300 more full-time jobs in March 2026 compared to a month earlier. Combined with a loss of 3,300 part-time positions, this led to a decrease of 2,000 total jobs in March.

Full-time employment was down 14,000 jobs from the peak in August 2025 but stood 2,700 jobs above the trough in January 2026.
