Hamilton Employment Trends

 

The unemployment rate in Hamilton was 6.6% as of February 2026, down 0.8% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 6.4% below the peak from June 2020 but remains above the long-run average.

There were 900 more full-time jobs in February 2026 compared to a month earlier. Combined with a gain of 1,200 part-time positions, this led to an increase of 2,100 total jobs in February.

Full-time employment was down 16,100 jobs from the peak in August 2025 but stood 900 jobs above the trough in January 2026.
