Hamilton Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in Hamilton was 6.4% as of July 2026, down 0.5% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 6.6% below the peak from June 2020 but remains above the long-run average.

There were 6,700 fewer full-time jobs in July 2026 compared to a month earlier. Combined with a gain of 7,200 part-time positions, this led to an increase of 500 total jobs in July.

Full-time employment was down 8,200 jobs from the peak in August 2025 but stood 6,700 jobs above the trough in December 2025.
