Hamilton Employment Trends

 

The unemployment rate in Hamilton was 6.7% as of April 2026, up 0.2% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 6.3% below the peak from June 2020 but remains above the long-run average.

There were 3,400 more full-time jobs in April 2026 compared to a month earlier. Combined with a loss of 3,100 part-time positions, this led to an increase of 300 total jobs in April.

Full-time employment was down 10,400 jobs from the peak in August 2025 but stood 6,200 jobs above the trough in January 2026.
