Calgary Employment Trends
The unemployment rate in Calgary was 8.5% as of June 2024, up 0.4% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 7% below the peak from June 2020 but remains above the long-run average.
There were 4,300 fewer full-time jobs in June 2024 compared to a month earlier. A gain of 2,000 part-time positions led to a decrease of 2,300 total jobs in June.
Full-time employment was still down 9,600 jobs from the peak in August 2023 but stood 23,700 jobs above the trough in December 2023.
