Calgary Employment Trends
The unemployment rate in Calgary was 7.8% as of December 2024, down 0.1% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 7.7% below the peak from June 2020 but remains above the long-run average.
There were 12,600 more full-time jobs in December 2024 compared to a month earlier. A gain of 3,800 part-time positions led to an increase of 16,400 total jobs in December.
Full-time employment has recovered since reaching a bottom in December 2023 and now stands at a record high.
