Brantford Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in Brantford was 4.8% as of April 2022, down 0.3% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 7.5% below the peak from June 2020 and is below the long-run average.

There were 300 fewer full-time jobs in April 2022 compared to a month earlier. A gain of 300 part-time positions led to an unchanged number of total jobs in April.

Full-time employment was still down 3,600 jobs from the peak in May 2019 but stood 6,300 jobs above the trough in April 2020.

The number of full-time jobs in April was up from the previous month in agriculture, utilities, construction, manufacturing, professional & scientific services, accommodation & food services, and public administration.

Full-time job losses in April occurred in natural resources, trade services, transportation & warehousing, the financial sector, business & building services, education, healthcare, and information & cultural services.
