Changes in population from migration and immigration
Positive international immigration overshadowed losses from interprovincial migration, resulting in a net increase of 4,527 people to Manitoba’s population in the third quarter of 2024. This was a decrease of 51% from the third quarter of 2023.
Changes in population from movement within Canada
Some 3,553 people moved to Manitoba from other provinces in the third quarter of 2024, down 1.3% from a year earlier. A total of 4,970 people left the province for elsewhere in Canada in the third quarter, a decrease of 16.7% from the same period in 2023. The result was a net loss of 1,417 people from Manitoba’s population in the third quarter. This was a decrease of 40.2% from the third quarter of 2023.
Changes in population from immigration
International immigration added 5,944 people to Manitoba’s population in the third quarter of 2024. This was a decrease of 48.8% from the same period in 2023.
