Ottawa Employment Trends
The unemployment rate in Ottawa was 6% as of June 2024, up 0.5% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 4% below the peak from July 2020 but remains above the long-run average.
There were 2,200 more full-time jobs in June 2024 compared to a month earlier. A loss of 2,400 part-time positions led to a decrease of 200 total jobs in June.
Full-time employment was still down 9,100 jobs from the peak in October 2023 but stood 3,800 jobs above the trough in April 2024.
