Prince Edward Island Employment Trends
The unemployment rate in Prince Edward Island was 8.1% at the end of December 2019, down 0.3% from the previous month to hit the lowest level in over two decades.
Full-time jobs were up from the end of the previous month to a new monthly record.
There were 300 more full-time jobs in December 2019 compared to a month earlier. A gain of 100 part-time positions led to an increase of 400 total jobs in December.
Full-time job gains occurred mainly in construction, trade services. And prof., sci. & tech. services.
These gains offset losses occurring mainly in natural resources, utilities, manufacturing, and transportation & warehousing.
