Prince Edward Island Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in Prince Edward Island was 7.3% as of September 2026, down 0.1% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 6.3% below the peak from July 2020 and is below the long-run average.

There were 500 fewer full-time jobs in September 2026 compared to a month earlier. Combined with a gain of 500 part-time positions, this led to an unchanged number of total jobs in September.

Full-time employment was down 800 jobs from the peak in July 2026.
