Toronto Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in Toronto was 6.8% as of January 2024, up 0.1% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 8.3% below the peak from July 2020 and is below the long-run average.

There were 5,500 fewer full-time jobs in January 2024 compared to a month earlier. A loss of 1,200 part-time positions led to a decrease of 6,700 total jobs in January.

Full-time employment was still down 74,300 jobs from the peak in June 2023.
