Toronto Employment Trends
The unemployment rate in Toronto was 8.1% as of December 2025, down 0.3% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 7% below the peak from July 2020 but remains above the long-run average.
There were 4,000 more full-time jobs in December 2025 compared to a month earlier. Combined with a gain of 9,400 part-time positions, this led to an increase of 13,400 total jobs in December.
Full-time employment has recovered since reaching a bottom in July 2025 and now stands at a record high.
