Toronto Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in Toronto was 7.5% as of March 2024, up 0.4% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 7.6% below the peak from July 2020 and is below the long-run average.

There were 3,000 more full-time jobs in March 2024 compared to a month earlier. A gain of 5,800 part-time positions led to an increase of 8,800 total jobs in March.

Full-time employment was still down 60,100 jobs from the peak in July 2023 but stood 12,700 jobs above the trough in January 2024.
