Ontario Consumer Confidence

According to the Conference Board of Canada, consumer confidence in Ontario edged up in July 2024.

Concerning job prospects over the next six months, the number of respondents expressing optimism over the outlook ticked lower, while those expressing uncertainty in future conditions moved up.

Regarding expectations for their household budget over the next six months, the number of respondents expecting their household financial situation to improve ticked up slightly compared to the previous month as the number of those expressing pessimism moved down.

Sentiment about making major purchases, like a home or a car, remains at historically subdued levels. The number of respondents indicating they feel uncertain about whether it is a good or bad time to make a major purchase continued trending higher in July as those who thought it was a bad time continued to fall.
