Kingston Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in Kingston was 5.8% as of June 2026, down 0.4% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 6.6% below the peak from June 2020 and is below the long-run average.

There were unchanged full-time jobs in June 2026 compared to a month earlier. Combined with a loss of 500 part-time positions, this led to a decrease of 500 total jobs in June.

Full-time employment was down 1,500 jobs from the peak in May 2023 but stood 3,900 jobs above the trough in February 2024.
