Kingston Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in Kingston was 6.2% as of December 2025, up 0.6% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 6.2% below the peak from June 2020 and is below the long-run average.

There were 400 fewer full-time jobs in December 2025 compared to a month earlier. Combined with a gain of 600 part-time positions, this led to an increase of 200 total jobs in December.

Full-time employment was down 3,200 jobs from the peak in May 2023 but stood 2,600 jobs above the trough in February 2024.
