Alberta Employment Trends

 

The unemployment rate in Alberta was 7% as of December 2025, down 0.4% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 7.7% below the peak from June 2020 but remains above the long-run average.

There were 5,700 more full-time jobs in December 2025 compared to a month earlier. Combined with a gain of 2,800 part-time positions, this led to an increase of 8,500 total jobs in December.

Full-time employment has recovered since reaching a bottom in September 2025 and now stands at a record high.
