Alberta Employment Trends
The unemployment rate in Alberta was 7.7% as of August 2025, up 0.4% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 7% below the peak from June 2020 but remains above the long-run average.
There were 7,500 more full-time jobs in August 2025 compared to a month earlier. Combined with a loss of 7,800 part-time positions, this led to a decrease of 300 total jobs in August.
Full-time employment has recovered since reaching a bottom in May 2025 and now stands at a record high.
