Alberta Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in Alberta was 7.5% as of September 2024, up 0.2% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 7.1% below the peak from June 2020 but remains above the long-run average.

There were 11,100 more full-time jobs in September 2024 compared to a month earlier. A loss of 9,600 part-time positions led to an increase of 1,500 total jobs in September.

Full-time employment has recovered since reaching a bottom in June 2024 and now stands at a record high.
