Barrie Employment Trends
The unemployment rate in Barrie was 4.3% at the end of February 2020, down 0.7% from the previous month.
The number of full-time jobs was up from the end of the previous month.
There were 1,200 more full-time jobs in February 2020 compared to a month earlier. A gain of 2,100 part-time positions led to an increase of 3,300 total jobs in February.
Full-time job gains occurred mainly in construction, the financial sector, prof., sci. & tech. services, business & building services, accommodation & food services, and public administration.
These gains offset losses occurring mainly in trade services, education, healthcare, and information & culture services.
