Barrie Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in Barrie was 5.9% as of September 2024, down 0.6% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 7.5% below the peak from January 2021 and is below the long-run average.

There were 3,300 more full-time jobs in September 2024 compared to a month earlier. A loss of 1,200 part-time positions led to an increase of 2,100 total jobs in September.

Full-time employment was still down 9,700 jobs from the peak in February 2023 but stood 3,400 jobs above the trough in July 2024.
