Barrie Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in Barrie was 6.8% as of March 2024, down 0.6% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 6.6% below the peak from January 2021 and is below the long-run average.

There were 300 fewer full-time jobs in March 2024 compared to a month earlier. A gain of 500 part-time positions led to an increase of 200 total jobs in March.

Full-time employment was still down 11,600 jobs from the peak in May 2023.
