Prairies Consumer Confidence
According to the Conference Board of Canada, consumer confidence in the Prairies ticked lower in November 2024.
Concerning job prospects over the next six months, the number of respondents expecting stability remained at elevated levels but moved lower in November. Those who expressed pessimism or optimism was little changed while those unsure ticked higher.
Regarding expectations for their household budget over the next six months, the number of respondents expecting stability in their household finances remained elevated while the number of respondents expecting conditions to deteriorate ticked slightly higher. Those expecting improvement in conditions edged lower.
Sentiment about making major purchases, like a home or a car, remains at historically subdued levels but has improved in recent months. The overall percentage of consumers who thought it was a good time to make a major purchase ticked sideways in November as the number of those who were unsure moved up.
