Vancouver Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in Vancouver was 6.4% as of August 2026, up 0.1% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 6.7% below the peak from June 2020 but remains above the long-run average.

There were 6,000 more full-time jobs in August 2026 compared to a month earlier. Combined with a gain of 2,900 part-time positions, this led to an increase of 8,900 total jobs in August.

Full-time employment has recovered since reaching a bottom in October 2025 and now stands at a record high.
