Vancouver Employment Trends

 

The unemployment rate in Vancouver was 6.3% as of January 2026, unchanged from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 6.8% below the peak in June 2020 but remains above the long-run average.

There were 9,700 more full-time jobs in January 2026 compared to a month earlier. Combined with a loss of 7,200 part-time positions, this led to an increase of 2,500 total jobs in January.

Full-time employment was down 21,600 jobs from the peak in June 2025 but stood 18,700 jobs above the trough in October 2025.
