Changes in population from migration and immigration

Negative net international immigration added to losses from interprovincial migration, resulting in a net decrease of 2,050 people to Manitoba’s population in the fourth quarter of 2025. This was a reversal from the net gain of 4,960 people from the fourth quarter of 2024.

Changes in population from movement within Canada

Some 2,094 people moved to Manitoba from other provinces in the fourth quarter of 2025, up 16.9% from a year earlier. A total of 3,006 people left the province for elsewhere in Canada in the fourth quarter, an increase of 15.4% from the same period in 2024. The result was a net loss of 912 people from Manitoba’s population in the fourth quarter. This was an increase of 12.2% from the fourth quarter of 2024.

Changes in population from immigration

Net international immigration subtracted 1,138 people from Manitoba’s population in the fourth quarter of 2025. This was a reversal from the net gain of 5,773 people from the same period in 2024.
