Alberta Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in Alberta was 6.2% as of March 2024, unchanged from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 8.4% below the peak in June 2020 and is on par with the long-run average.

There were 13,400 more full-time jobs in March 2024 compared to a month earlier. A loss of 5,200 part-time positions led to an increase of 8,200 total jobs in March.

Full-time employment has recovered since reaching a bottom in November 2023 and now stands at a record high.
