Ontario Employment Trends
The unemployment rate in Ontario was 6.9% as of September 2024, down 0.1% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 5.9% below the peak from June 2020 and is below the long-run average.
There were 28,900 more full-time jobs in September 2024 compared to a month earlier. A loss of 9,800 part-time positions led to an increase of 19,100 total jobs in September.
Full-time employment has recovered since reaching a bottom in March 2024 and now stands at a record high.
