Ontario Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in Ontario was 6.3% as of February 2024, up 0.1% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 6.5% below the peak from June 2020 and is below the long-run average.

There were 3,900 fewer full-time jobs in February 2024 compared to a month earlier. A gain of 1,700 part-time positions led to a decrease of 2,200 total jobs in February.

Full-time employment was still down 36,300 jobs from the peak in October 2023.
