Lethbridge Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in Lethbridge was 4.2% as of February 2023, up 0.1% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 6.6% below the peak from May 2014 and is below the long-run average.

There were 200 more full-time jobs in February 2023 compared to a month earlier. A loss of 500 part-time positions led to a decrease of 300 total jobs in February.

Full-time employment was still down 1,200 jobs from the peak in September 2015 but stood 7,700 jobs above the trough in June 2020.

The number of full-time jobs in February was up from the previous month in agriculture, natural resources, manufacturing, the financial sector, healthcare, information & cultural services, and public administration.

Full-time job losses in February occurred in utilities, construction, trade services, transportation & warehousing, professional & scientific services, business & building services, education, and accommodation & food services.
