Lethbridge Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in Lethbridge was 3% as of December 2022, down 0.5% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 7% below the peak from October 2012 and is below the long-run average.

There were 700 more full-time jobs in December 2022 compared to a month earlier. A gain of 400 part-time positions led to an increase of 1,100 total jobs in December.

Full-time employment was still down 2,000 jobs from the peak in September 2015 but stood 6,800 jobs above the trough in June 2020.

The number of full-time jobs in December was up from the previous month in agriculture, manufacturing, transportation & warehousing, the financial sector, professional & scientific services, healthcare, information & cultural services, accommodation & food services, and public administration.

Full-time job losses in December occurred in natural resources, utilities, construction, trade services, business & building services, and education.
