Ontario Employment Trends
The unemployment rate in Ontario was 7.8% as of June 2025, up 0.1% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 5.2% below the peak from June 2020 but remains above the long-run average.
There were 6,900 fewer full-time jobs in June 2025 compared to a month earlier. Combined with a gain of 3,600 part-time positions, this led to a decrease of 3,300 total jobs in June.
Full-time employment was still down 63,900 jobs from the peak in February 2025.
