Alberta Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in Alberta was 6.5% as of April 2024, up 0.3% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 8.1% below the peak from June 2020 but remains above the long-run average.

There were 4,300 more full-time jobs in April 2024 compared to a month earlier. A gain of 3,900 part-time positions led to an increase of 8,200 total jobs in April.

Full-time employment has recovered since reaching a bottom in November 2023 and now stands at a record high.
