Calgary Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in Calgary was 7.7% as of April 2024, up 1.2% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 7.8% below the peak from June 2020 but remains above the long-run average.

There were 4,500 more full-time jobs in April 2024 compared to a month earlier. A loss of 800 part-time positions led to an increase of 3,700 total jobs in April.

Full-time employment was still down 7,600 jobs from the peak in August 2023 but stood 27,800 jobs above the trough in December 2023.
