Quinte Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in Quinte was 12% as of April 2021, up 1.6% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 7.3% below the peak from April 2014 but remains above the long-run average.

There were 2,600 fewer full-time jobs in April 2021 compared to a month earlier. A gain of 600 part-time positions led to a decrease of 2,000 total jobs in April.

Full-time employment was still down 13,700 jobs from the peak in December 2010 but stood 18,800 jobs above the recent trough in February 2016.

The number of full-time jobs in April was up from the previous month in natural resources, utilities, construction, transportation & warehousing, healthcare, and public administration.

Full-time job losses in April occurred in agriculture, manufacturing, trade services, the financial sector, professional & scientific services, business & building services, education, information & cultural services, and accommodation & food services.
