Quinte Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in Quinte was 5.6% as of December 2022, up 0.4% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 13.7% below the peak from April 2014 and is below the long-run average.

There were 3,500 fewer full-time jobs in December 2022 compared to a month earlier. A gain of 3,200 part-time positions led to a decrease of 300 total jobs in December.

Full-time employment was still down 11,500 jobs from the peak in December 2010 but stood 21,000 jobs above the trough in February 2016.

The number of full-time jobs in December was up from the previous month in manufacturing, professional & scientific services, information & cultural services, accommodation & food services, and public administration.

Full-time job losses in December occurred in agriculture, natural resources, utilities, construction, trade services, transportation & warehousing, the financial sector, business & building services, education, and healthcare.
