British Columbia Consumer Confidence

According to the Conference Board of Canada consumer confidence in British Columbia was little changed in April 2022.

Concerning job prospects over the next six months, the number of respondents expecting an increase moved up as the number of respondents expressing pessimism or stability over the short-term future of employment prospects edged down.

Regarding expectations for their household budget over the next six months, the number of respondents expecting a deterioration continued to move higher. There was an accompanying decrease compared to last month in the number of those expressing uncertainty or stability in the future of their consumer household finances.

Sentiment about making major purchases, like a home or a car, remains at historically subdued levels. The number of respondents expressing pessimism fell slightly and those expressing optimism recorded a slight increase.
