Okanagan Employment Trends
The unemployment rate in the Okanagan region was 4.7% as of August 2024, up 0.3% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 7.3% below the peak from June 2009 and is below the long-run average.
There were 2,000 fewer full-time jobs in August 2024 compared to a month earlier. A gain of 1,700 part-time positions led to a decrease of 300 total jobs in August.
Full-time employment was still down 14,900 jobs from the peak in May 2023.
