New Brunswick Employment Trends

The unemployment rate in New Brunswick was 7.5% as of April 2022, down 0.5% from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 4.4% below the peak from June 2020 and is below the long-run average.

There were 3,300 more full-time jobs in April 2022 compared to a month earlier. A gain of 700 part-time positions led to an increase of 4,000 total jobs in April.

Full-time employment has recovered since bottoming out in June 2020 and now stands at a record high.

The number of full-time jobs in April was up from the previous month in agriculture, construction, professional & scientific services, education, healthcare, information & cultural services, and accommodation & food services.

Full-time job losses in April occurred in natural resources, and trade services.
