Manitoba Employment Trends
The unemployment rate in Manitoba was 5% as of April 2022, unchanged from the previous month. The unemployment rate stood 5.6% below the peak in June 2020 and is below the long-run average.
There were 3,100 fewer full-time jobs in April 2022 compared to a month earlier. A gain of 3,600 part-time positions led to an increase of 500 total jobs in April.
Full-time employment was still down 4,800 jobs from the peak in February 2022.
The number of full-time jobs in April was up from the previous month in manufacturing, the financial sector, professional & scientific services, accommodation & food services, and public administration.
Full-time job losses in April occurred in agriculture, construction, trade services, transportation & warehousing, and business & building services.
